When lockdown was imposed in March 2020, 22 people in or connected to Galloway started recording their reactions to a world turned upside down. For 12 weeks they wrote about their changed lives. In prose and poetry they expressed their fears, shared unexpected joys, spoke candidly of loneliness, dared to hope for a better future and despaired at the folly they witnessed. Writedown gathers their work: lyrical poetry, desperate rants, droll humour and quiet endurance all feature in this unique record from a community encountering unprecedented times.
